The purpose of providing this scholarship, which is one of the best scholarships in Canada, is to strengthen Canada’s ability to retain and attract doctoral students at the global level and to establish Canada as a global center for excellence in research and higher education.

General requirements for applicants:

• This exchange has no restrictions in terms of citizenship. All applicants from different countries, along with Canadian citizens and permanent residents, can apply for this scholarship.
• The applicant must have had good academic activity and obtained a high grade in the last two years of his previous studies.
• The applicant must have been accepted by (only) one of the universities or higher education institutions of Canada to which the quota of this scholarship has been allocated and be a candidate for this scholarship. The list of these universities is mentioned above
• The applicant must not have obtained a doctorate degree before. In other words, the course for which the applicant is applying for a Vanier scholarship must be for obtaining his first doctoral degree.

Candidate selection conditions:

The selection of the best applicants is based on the following conditions. The applicant’s score in each of the following conditions should not be less than 1/3:

1) Background and academic excellence:

In order to check this condition, things such as the GPA and transcripts, awards, and points obtained in the applicant’s previous academic period are considered.

2) Research capability and potential:

The research history and publication of articles, research interests, the research project proposed by the applicant for the doctoral course, and the ability of this project to advance knowledge in that particular scientific field are examined in this condition.

3) Driving ability and potential:

This requirement is evaluated through the review of the applicant’s personal achievements as well as academic contributions, public volunteer activities, civic contributions, and other such matters.
