Job Description

The Finland Government Scholarship is a prominent initiative that the Finnish government established as a lighthouse for gifted people from all around the world. Its goal is to invite outstanding students to pursue higher education in Finland, to encourage academic excellence, to promote cultural interchange, and to build international understanding. By providing financial aid to worthy students, Finland hopes to maintain its position as a premier study-abroad destination.

Every year in January (3-17 Jan in 2024), the Studyinfo.fi joint application to studies beginning in the fall (September) is organized. The same application time applies to all degree programs offered through the joint application. A joint application allows you to submit a single application for up to six different degree programs.

A few degree programs could also provide students the option of starting their studies in January. For them, the combined application period typically runs from September 4 through September 14, 2023. However, keep in mind that compared to the January joint application, the September joint application offers a smaller range of programs.

Eligibility

  • You typically need to possess such school-leaving credentials that allow you to apply for higher education in your native country while applying for bachelor’s programs. Even if you have previously finished some higher education coursework, you will still require your upper secondary school credentials.
  • You must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or its equivalent to be eligible for master’s level admission. After earning your bachelor’s degree, you must also have at least two years of work experience in the field to be eligible for the UAS master’s program.
  • The specific prerequisites may change depending on the degree program. For instance, if you are a qualified applicant, you might also need to pass an admission exam, the SAT, or an interview.
  • The university could ask you to provide official proof of your English competence if it’s not your first language. The most widely accepted options are IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE, although there may also be additional options available. You can get advice on the university’s English proficiency exam requirements and any potential exemption policies from the institution to which you are applying.

How to Apply

How and when you apply depends on the degree program. Start by searching for the study programs you’d wish to apply to in the Studyinfo.fi database. After choosing your programs, it is easy for you to check the application period and other admission-related details with those particular universities.
