The Security Officer is a key member of the Third Party Monitoring (TPM) Project team of WFP, ensuring the safety and security of ARADA’s personnel, assets, and facilities at the field level, province offices, and cluster level. In order for all core and project personnel to effectively and efficiently contribute to the end and the result of the WFP TPM Project, a security officer will enable an environment that complies with UN security requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform an evaluation of the security needs for the ARADA project office in the provincial offices and the headquarters to create security plans and emergency plans for each office;
  • Ensure that ARADA’s headquarters and field offices have smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and other security equipment;
    the entrance to TMP project offices is controlled and authorized before admission;
  • In order to reduce danger and hazard, frequently inspect surveillance cameras for disturbance;
  • HQ and provincial office guards should be overseen to verify that all security precautions are followed;
  • teach the guards at the headquarters and provincial offices the newest security management techniques;
  • to the TPM Project senior management, prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly security reports;
  • Create internal office communication to manage TPM project recipients, stakeholders, and visitors;
  • When hiring TPM project workers, provide orientation training in security compatible with UN security requirements;
  • provide field personnel with up-to-date security training on staff travel precautions, vehicle operation, and parking in safe and secure places;
  • instruct ARADA’s TPM project employees on relevant security processes and procedures, as well as fire assembly points and appropriate precautions;
  • At various phases of project execution in the field and provinces, give security risk management advice to ARADA Senior Management and project workers;
  • conduct an inquiry into incidents when they occur and notify the operations manager and TPM project manager right away;
  • If necessary, be well-prepared to go to TPM Project Provincial Offices;
  • Take on any additional duties that the operations manager may assign.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor in Security Field;
  • Formal multi-year education in security management;
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in security management with UN/ other national or International NGOs;
  • Be familiar with security-related equipment;
  • Must have good knowledge and practical experience in using CCTV cameras along with the required technologies and software.
  • Familiarity with Project context, environment, communities, and cultural sensitivity;
  • Strong knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards and awareness of gender and protection of vulnerable groups;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to clearly synthesize and present findings;
  • Experience utilizing computer software (MS Word, MS Excel, Typing, etc.) and smartphone;
  • Ability to speak fluently in English, Pashto, and Dari;
  • Should have a valid driving license.
