The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Afghanistan is one of the ministries of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

This ministry works on developing and modernizing agriculture, livestock, and horticulture.

Agriculture is the source of livelihood for 80% of the country’s population. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture of Afghanistan is an institution that constantly strives to improve the condition of agriculture, increase yields, and mechanize agriculture.

This ministry launches programs in the fields of agriculture, livestock, and horticulture in order to support farmers, manage natural resources, and strengthen the agricultural economy. The programs of the Ministry of Agriculture include promotional efforts and the introduction of crops with superior economic value; the strengthening of traditional products; the introduction and dissemination of agricultural technologies appropriate to the lands; programs to strengthen cooperatives and the agrarian economy; and export-provided marketing.

This ministry has a wide structure in the center, and in each province, there is a directorate of agriculture, and in each district, there is a directorate of agricultural affairs. These institutions work in the field of improving and modernizing farming methods, increasing yields, advancing horticulture, training farmers, gardeners, and livestock farmers, artificial insemination of animals, and increasing healthy dairy production.
